AURYN Mining Chile SpA is pleased to announce the discovery of bonanza gold grades (>50 g/t) at Merlin I vein in the Caren Mine sector within the Altos de Lipangue Project.

Highlights

    • Bonanza Gold Grades (>50 g/t) were discovered in Mina Caren sector.
    • Mineralogical zonation suggests the preservation of epithermal system and its continuity.
  • The company owns the exploitation permissions up to 5,000 Tn/month in Caren Property.
  • Early production evaluation is underway.

AURYN Mining Chile SpA is pleased to announce the discovery of bonanza gold grades (>50 g/t) at Merlin I vein in the Caren Mine sector within the Altos de Lipangue Project.

This important progress demonstrates the results of exploration program sustained and focused and carried out by AURYN Mining Chile SpA in the Altos de Lipangue Project.

Samples results from Merlin I vein at Caren Mine sector were pending during the last press release when mapping and trenching results were announced (See http://aurynmining.com/mapping-and-trenching-program-results-indicate-high-grade-gold-mineralization-in-the-epithermal-vein-system-at-merlin-and-fortuna-targets-in-the-altos-de-lipangue-project/ ). Today the company is pleased to complement information with the bonanza-type gold mineralization results in Caren property.

These results opens the possibility for AURYN Mining Chile SpA to evaluate the early production in the Caren Mine, moreover the company owns the exploitation permissions up to 5,000 Tn/month.

Sampling and Results

The Mina Caren sector comprises the northern extension of Merlin I vein and there are three old adits exploited in the past by artisanal miners. The old adits allowed AURYN’s geologists to collect samples from different topographic levels over the Merlín I vein. (See Figure 1 & 2)

At meter level 1875 the sampling was difficult because of the collapsed colluvium and dumps over the access, and at meter level 1800 the access was definitely closed. At meter level 1840 it was possible to collect several samples.

Over 15 samples were collected in adit #1, adit #2 and outcrops where it was possible to have safe access. The sampling was executed in different campaigns corroborating bonanza gold grades, (See Table 1).

The mineralization in Mina Caren presents a mineralogical zonation in the vertical extension, with Carbonate/quartz replacement textures dominated in the upper level (1900 m RL) to quartz crystalline + sulfides textures in lower levels (1840 m RL).

These variations suggest the preservation of an entire epithermal system in the Caren sector, and demonstrate that the system is still open to the SSE direction, supported by geochemistry results anomalous in grab samples.

Sample Preparation and Quality Control

Supervision and organization of channel samples was undertaken by AURYN personnel. Samples were collected by the channel sampling method with a minimum 0.20 m and maximum 1.2 m intervals depending on veins and host rock mineralization. Then samples were placed into cloth bags by employees of AURYN under the supervision of Luciano Bocanegra, Mario Arancibia and Felipe Astudillo, project geologists. Samples were catalogued by AURYN geologists and stored in a secure location. Blank and standard material was also inserted at random intervals.
